This Privacy Policy explains how Pull Up The Chair (“we,” “us,” or “our”), the official website for The Boomer’s Chair by Michael S. Sommermeyer, collects, uses, and protects your information when you visit pullupthechair.com (the “Site”), subscribe to our newsletter, or buy our products.
Information We Collect
Information you give us:
- Newsletter signup: your email address and, if provided, your first name when you subscribe or request a free download (such as the Starter Five).
- Contact form and email: your name, email address, and anything you include in your message.
- Replies: anything you choose to share when you reply to our emails.
Information collected automatically: like most websites, our Site and hosting provider may record your IP address, browser type, device, referring page, and pages viewed. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site working and to understand how it is used.
How We Use Your Information
- To send the newsletter, free resources, and updates you signed up for.
- To respond to your questions and requests.
- To improve the Site, our content, and our products (for example, using reader replies to shape future posts and issues).
- To keep the Site secure and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Newsletter and Email
Our newsletter is managed through MailPoet, a WordPress email plugin. Subscriber information is stored on our WordPress site, and emails may be delivered through MailPoet’s sending service. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. You can also email us and we will remove you.
Purchases
Book and product purchases are handled by Ko-fi (ko-fi.com/boomer_whisperer) and, where applicable, retailers such as Amazon. Payments are processed by those platforms and their payment partners (such as PayPal or Stripe). We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Information you give those platforms is governed by their own privacy policies.
Third-Party Services and Links
We may use trusted third-party services to run the Site, such as our web host, WordPress plugins, spam protection, and site analytics. These providers only receive the information needed to perform their services. The Site also links to outside sites, including Instagram, Ko-fi, and Amazon. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the Site may not work properly without them.
Data Retention and Security
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no website or email system is 100% secure.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of marketing emails. Nevada residents may submit a request to opt out of the sale of personal information; although we do not sell personal information, you may still contact us with this request. Residents of California, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and other regions may have additional rights under local law. To make any request, email us at the address below. We will respond within the time required by law.
Children’s Privacy
This Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
Boomer Translator (boomer-translator.com)
This privacy policy also covers boomer-translator.com, the Boomer Translator app built from The Boomer’s Chair. When you sign up there for a free resource, such as the Office Translator cheat sheet, we collect your first name and email address.
Those details are stored with Mailchimp, the email service we use to send you the resource and occasional updates. Mailchimp handles them under its own privacy policy (https://www.intuit.com/privacy/statement/). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send, or by contacting us.
